During rehearsal to record Marty band members decided to play vintage guitars ranging from plastic to koa and other retro models used by artists such as Django Reinhardt and in the collaboration of Train with Hall & Oates who played GS Mini Mahogany models on "Philly Forget Me Not". This set the sound-stage for recording Marty which is a story-song based on a French court ruling in recent years that employees could not be terminated for failure to be "fun" by participating in seminars and weekend excursions that often involved excessive imbibing and bullying.
